Townsville Tiger Sharks Mission Statement

The Townsville Tiger Sharks swimming club was established in 2017.  It is based in Mundingburra, with coaching and club events taking place at the Cathedral School swimming pool.  It is dedicated to the promotion, support and development of swimming in Townsville and is one of Townsville's newest competitive swimming clubs.  The Club supports swimmers of all ages, abilities and goals, offering grassroots development of future State, National and Olympic hopefuls as well as being equally committed to the goals of recreational swimmers and others, such triathletes.  The Club values open, honest communication and transparency in its processes.

The Townsville Tiger Sharks believes swimming is part of a healthy, active lifestyle and therefore has a responsibility to provide a healthy environment for every swimmer to grow within.  This requires a holistic approach to swimming and physical and environmental sustainability in order to nurture the complete emotional, mental and physical health and development of each of the Club’s swimmers and, by extension, their families.  The primary goal of the Townsville Tiger Sharks is to develop a life-long love of swimming in people of all ages and levels of ability, and then to support every swimmer’s individual journey, enabling them to achieve their specific dreams and develop to their full potential.

The Townsville Tiger Sharks is, as the Club name suggests, dedicated to Townsville.  The Club believes that by fostering the well-being of all swimmers including the younger generation, it can contribute to creating a better future for the geographical area we live in. The tiger shark is the symbol chosen to represent the Club because tiger sharks are found in Townsville waters and because in addition to the “Townsville Tiger” alliteration, tiger sharks are ‘amazing examples of aquatic awesomeness’ -  something we want all of our swimmers to achieve.
